I take on a limited number of tutoring and editing clients online and in the Washington, DC metro area.
I’m not a one-size-fits-all tutor. I listen to my clients and provide the information and support they need. My clients have included MBA students at American University, undergraduate students at Georgetown College and George Washington University, professionals applying to medical school or submitting work portfolios for promotion, ESL PhD students in need of an editor, and online students from around the country.
My services include tutoring in philosophy, history and politics, professional editing (resumes, cover letters, statements of purpose etc), and writing coaching. I frequently work with ESL students in any subject. I also teach beginner chess (moves, strategy, and tactics) at a lower rate. Click here for a more complete list of subjects.
I meet via phone or Skype, or in person in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. I’m proud that most of my clients are word-of-mouth referrals and repeats. By working independently of tutoring platforms or services, I can offer competitive rates while providing high-quality services. I accept payment via PayPal and Square (so you can use any major credit card). Both services offer buyer protections, and I personally guarantee your satisfaction.
My rate is $60/hour for academic tutoring and coaching, and $75/hour for professional projects. My minimum time is 1 hour; all time after that is to the next quarter-hour.
Writing coaching includes extremely detailed tear-downs of your current writing (including grammar, argument strength, and style) and targeted exercises to improve your writing. For ESL clients, this typically includes exercises to improve vocabulary range. Every student is different, and my work is never one-size-fits-all.
Please feel free to contact me via the easy form below. I’ll respond within 24 hours, or your first hour of tutoring is free.
